Sustainability Journal
Starting this 2021-2022 school year, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) will be launching the Sustainability Journal, a website designed and created within the OCDSB through a collaborative effort between Program and Learning and Energy Management and Conservation. The purpose of this new program is to replace the Ontario EcoSchools program. The Sustainability Journal functions as a website and allows educators to record their environmental initiatives, discover resources and network with others while alleviating any additional workload that was traditionally involved with the EcoSchools program.
The Sustainability Journal is designed to facilitate the teacher’s creativity while at the same time promoting the OCDSB’s environmental offerings. This website has been paired with Google Currents, The Environmental Education Hub as a social networking spot for educators with a passion for the environment. The goals of the Sustainability Journal are:

Encourage and track school’s participation in environmental and sustainability programming

Streamline all OCDSB environmental stewardship programs into one place

Highlight practices taking are taking place across OCDSB school
The Sustainability Journal can capture any and all environmental activities taking place at schools. It does not follow a rigid point-based structure. There will be recognition provided to schools for participating in this program. However, recognition details will be determined later as this is not the prime focus of the Sustainability Journal.

The Sustainability Journal website is internal to OCDSB (OCDSB login and password to gain access). This website can also function as a mobile app on an ipad or other device. The user simply visits the home page once from their device and then adds the website to their home screen.
